Obligatory Actions
In 14:40, when Abraham prayed to God, he did not ask for wealth or health. Instead, he pleaded for the ability to "be one who observes the contact prayers (Salah)." The religious duties prescribed by God are truly a precious gift, serving as essential nourishment for the growth and development of our souls. Without this spiritual sustenance, we cannot endure the overwhelming energy of God's physical presence on the Day of Judgment. Belief in God alone is not sufficient for redemption; our souls must also be nurtured (6:158, 10:90-92). Furthermore, 15:99 highlights that fulfilling the religious obligations set by God leads us to attain certainty in faith.
- 14:40: "My Lord, make me one who consistently observes the Contact Prayers (Salat), and also my children. Our Lord, please answer my prayers.
- 6:158: Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or your Lord, or some physical manifestations of your Lord? The day this happens, no soul will benefit from believing if it did not believe before that, and did not reap the benefits of belief by leading a righteous life. Say, "Keep on waiting; we too are waiting."
- 10:90-92: We delivered the Children of Israel across the sea. Pharaoh and his troops pursued them, aggressively and sinfully. When drowning became a reality for him, he said, "I believe that there is no god except the One in whom the Children of Israel have believed; I am a submitter." "Too late! For you have rebelled already, and chose to be a transgressor. Today, we will preserve your body, to set you up as a lesson for future generations." Unfortunately, many people are totally oblivious to our signs.
- 15:99: And worship your Lord, in order to attain certainty.
